Promotion and Protection of Human Rights
As an Association, we’ve dedicated ourselves to conceive and implement projects aimed at raising awareness about each person’s basic human rights, empowering people with tools and resources with which they can protect their rights.
We specifically work to impart women and youth with the knowledge with which they can use to Impact other Lives by focusing on the following:
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights;
The rationale is to empower women to make informed choices about their lives and bodies, free from discrimination and coercion. For sexual and reproductive health to be attained and maintained, the sexual and reproductive health rights of all persons must be respected, protected, and fulfilled. Sexual and reproductive health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination, and violence.
Gender Based Violence;
The rationale is to raise awareness about the basic human rights and gender-based violence and provide women and girls with tools and resources to protect their rights as well as rehabilitate victims of Gender Based Violence.
Our consideration for GBV includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse or threats of such acts or abuse, coercion, and economic or educational deprivation, whether occurring in public or private life, in peacetime and during armed or other forms of conflict, and may cause physical, sexual, psychological, emotional or economic harm.
Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery;
The rationale is to raise awareness about the basic human rights and empower women and youth to fight against human trafficking and modern and provide women and girls with tools and resources to protect their rights.
In the same way that it takes a village to raise a child, BeLA believes in the necessity for cross-sector collaboration and communities coming together to end human trafficking and modern slavery is crucial, by building awareness, strengthening child protection systems, supporting victims of trafficking, and advocating for anti-trafficking policies.
